Prove aperte at La Scala Theatre

 Myung-Whun Chung director of the Philharmonic leads the orchestra in benefit of Azione Solidale.

The beneficiary of the last performance of the 2017 season of the Scala Philharmonic is Azione Solidale, a non-profit organization located in west Milan that focuses on young people that live in socially, economical, or culturally vulnerable situations.
The performance, made possible thanks to the willingness of orchestra musicians and guest directors, in collaboration with Main Partner UniCredit and thanks to the support of the UniCredit Foundation is Sunday, May 21st at 7:30. See the Scala Philharmonic directed by maestro Myung-Whun Chung and accompanied by cellist Mario Brunello.

The proceeds from the night will benefit the “Community Media Center Olmi” and will be used for a new room that will be equipped with multimedia stations for audio and video editing. It will be inside of CAG (Youth Aggregation Center) Olmi, the center already is the location for Shareradio, a web radio channel with multimedia workshops in which youth participants construct the schedule and content. The overall goal of the program is to provide opportunities for community building for young people in disadvantaged areas, while also enhancing their creativity, their initiative, and their work-related skills.

 

Azione Solidale is the last of four Milan nonprofits to be involved in the 2017 edition of Prova Aperte. It’s committed to supporting young people from the outskirts of Milan with programs aimed at combatting school dropout rates by providing educational and family support. The other nonprofits are La Strada, La Lanterna, and Amici di Edoardo.

To introduce the last performance will be music critic Carla Moreni who will guide the audience in listening to the overture of Der Freischütz by Carl Maria Von Weber, followed by the Concert for the Cello and Op. 104 by Antonín Dvořák and performed by cellist Mario Brunello. Completing the evening’s programming will be Ludwig Beethoven’s Symphony Number 5.
